Electrical problem
2003 Pontiac Montana Two Wheel Drive Automatic 50,000 miles

Hello
I had 2 burned out brake lights last week and because they were both out and the fuses looked 'melted', the mechanic told me it could be a sign of an electrical problem and to keep a close eye on the brake lights. Sure enough, another has burned out today. Any idea of cost to fix the problem?
Thanks
Alix

Electrical issues like this are hard to chase down. It can take 5 minutes or 5 hours to find the problem. Since the brake lamp circuitry is really a more smaller circuit on the vehicle, it shouldn't take very long. Most shops will charge around $70 to diagnose then another $50 - $80 per hour to fix the problem, just depends on what the problem is in order to give a better estimate though.
