When the defrost is turned on, the side windows do not clear up very well. There is warm air coming out of the vents, but it doesn't clear up the windows.

You need to make sure your air conditioning is working, turn the heat setting over to cool and make sure the ac button is pushed in and check how it feels, if not icy cold to the back of your hand, have it checked out, it may not be working. The bad thing is depending on how cold it is where you are, you may not be able to tell if its working by feel, say under +30f. I would check it above +50f at minumum. This could be the problem as when you use defrost even though the heater is on, the compressor turns on to remove moisture and dry the air. That is why water will sometimes pour out of an air condition unit as condensate, especially on hot, humid days. The a/c light on the dash button should also come on when set to any mixture setting that includes defrost The makers of rain-x also make a wipe on anti fog solution, works good but you have to reapply often, this may help you out until you can get it in the shop.
