2001 Pontiac Montana Transmission Problems

Recently it feels like my 2001 Pontiac montana Wont shift into overdrive. When going over 55 mph it is running close to 3000 rpms. It is also making a whining sound that seems to be coming from underneath. If I shift it down to 3rd gear it doesnt really do much as far as the rpms but the whine goes away.

First check the trans. Fluid level. If OK then it may be the OD switch or torque convertor clutch.

I would take it to a reputable trans shop for a specific diagnosis.

I own a 2000 montana and it whines also and shifts hard then inn shut it off once it starts doing it then start it up again and it goes away does this sound common
