I have a 1999 Pontiac Montana that automatically locks the doors when the key is placed into the ignition and turned to "on/run".

It does not wait until the trans is moved from park.

Long story short. My wife accidentally locked the keys in the car when she started it to allow it to cool down via A/C and forgot that the doors were automatically locked. 3 hours later we got the spare key and got into the idling van. :(

Is there any way to DISABLE this totaly NUMB SKULLED feature! Thanks! :     : :

I have a 99 Montana as well. This is a programming change to the factory security system. We have ours programmed to lock the doors when the trans is shifted from park, and to unlock when the engine is switched off. The owners manual gives directions on how to program. If my memory serves me correctly there is a removable panel by the passenger door that has to be accessed for the programming.
