I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix with 137, xxx miles on it. It has been sitting for about 10 months withough being driven regularly. I have gone out and started it once every two weeks since it was parked. I recently decided to start driving it again and now the A/C does not blow cold air and the fan only works on the max fan setting.

I realize there are probably two issues here. I have checked the fuses for the fan issue and it does not seem to be the problem. As I understand it the max fan setting and the other 4 settings are run on different switches? Any ideas on what to do here would be appreciated.

Second issue: not blowing cold air. I have checked the low pressure valve and it read 35 psi which I believe is in spec.

I am not very experienced at this kind of work (A/C), but if it is something I can fix I would prefer to do it myself. I know there are issues regarding A/C repair with EPA guidelines etcetera.

Please Help Me!

That a/c pressure reading static isnt enough to make the system work, might have a small leak. The blower. There is a fan speed controller/resistor mounted near the blower motor in the HVAC plenum, follow the power wires from the motor backwards to find it. That will solve that one.
