A couple days ago, after not driving the car for a week, 3 messages came up on my driver info screen; "Traction Controll Off", which I cannot turn back on, followed by "Service ABS system", followed by "Service Variable Effort Steering." A local mechanic advised that the power steering pump could be out, so I changed that but have the same issues. I do have power steering, but my Variable effort steering doesn't work and I hit the brakes on the open highway and skidded, indicating to me that my ABS probably isn't working?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi, it sounds like the sensor in the steering column that sends feedback information to the PCM has failed. Have your technician scan the PCM and clear the codes, next turn the key to the on position and see what codes come up without driving it. Please let me know how it goes. Thanks for using 2Carpros.
