My car wont always crank on the 1st try. I took the cover off of the fuel pump in the trunk and if you tap on it the car will crank. Could it need a fuel pump or relay or filter? Where is the relay located? Thank You for any info!

I think the terminology is a problem.

Crank (turn over) means the engine is trying to start, but doesn't.

No crank means nothing happens when the key is turned.

IS this a no crank problem or a no start problem?

If you rap on the tank and it starts, there is a high probablity of the pump being bad. Relay should be in the engine compartment. If you change the pump, change the filter too.
