Hello, the other day I was on the interstate when another vehicle had cut me off. I hit the brakes, and when it was clear on the other side of me, I floored it to get around the other vehicle that had cut me off. When accelerating, it seemed like it didn't want to pick up very much speed, and was not shifting properly. At the same time, my Service Engine Soon light came on. After slowing down, the light came off.
Now, every time I try to accelerate it does the same thing, and I can hear some noises from underneath. When I accelerate slowly it shifts fine, but I can tell that it is still a little sluggish.
I just had the transmission rebuilt a year and a half ago. Is it that? Or could it be the torque conververter? Or something else?

Please help me,
Jeremy

It could well be the convertor. You need to scan the ECM to find out what triggered the check engine light. That will tell us a lot.

Well, unless the guy at Auto Zone doesn't know how to use the machine, it didn't pull up anycodes from the memory.
I also noticed that I am using a lot more gas than usual, and the exuast smells rich.

With the engine warm, at an idle and in park if you floor board the engine does it hold back or cough back into the air cleaner? Also, have you found where the "noise" is coming from?

What do you mean if it holds back or coughs back into the air cleaner? The noise I do believe is coming from under the car near behind the motor. I'm starting to think it might be the torque converter, but not a 100 percent sure.

You had mentioned in your first posting that the engine was slugigish. This is indicative of a plugged cat. Convertor. I guess we can rule that out. If it is indeed the torque convertor, any local shop can check it out for you.
