Engine Performance problem
1999 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Automatic 160000 miles

I ran the car through some water, then got it all out. I changed the filter and cleaned the throttle body. I had the lifters changed, and now the car idles very high, about 2500 RPMs when in park and still tries to accelerate when the car is put into drive, about 1500 RPMs. What is this?

Could be a vacuum leaks or an idle air control valve problem try cleaning it out and see what happens. Also test the throttle position sensor.

The throttle position is fine. Could this be the speed sensor? And how do I check for a vacuum leak? Is there a way to check the IAC valve or do I just replace it?
