I bought an actron pocket scanner and hooked it up but got no power to the scanner what could the problem be.

Thanks for the donation

The owner's manual should come with a troubleshooting guide for the scanner.

Ensure that you are connecting it to the correct port. Make sure you are going by the steps per manual as well. Key must be in certain position of ignition.

If you feel it is not your scanner that has the issues, you can always go to a local part store such as AutoZone and have them use their scanner to see if it works on your vehicle. If so, then you will know it has something to do with your scanner and not the vehicle's computer.

The check engine light must be illuminated for the diagnostic scanner to work as well.

It was a fuse that was blowed that sends 12 volts to the ALDL which is pin 16 thanks alot
