1997 Pontiac Grand Prix locate and replace VSS vehicle spee

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Automatic 161000 miles

My speedometer is eratic and SES light is on. RPM's WAY HIGH. Code shown when hooked up to a scanner is P0502. I'm in dire need of assistance with instructions on how to correctly locate and replace my VSS.

The Vehicle Speed Sensor on a 4T60-E transmission is located in the Final Drive housing where the right Half-shaft (axle & upper CV joint) splines into the transmission. All you need is a socket to remove the retaining bolt and use some care not to tear the seal when you pull the sensor out. Hope this helps.
