Transmission problem
1995 Pontiac Grand Prix Front Wheel Drive Automatic 137000 miles

Just bought this car. When I drive it and shift manually from 1st all the way to "D" (4th) it shifts fine. When I just put the car in "D" and go, it attempts to shift into the next gear several times before acutally shifting. Also, when you come to a stop, it is slow to automatically downshift.

Cross these two terminals as shown, then turn the key on. Count the flashes, a 22 will flash as 2 flashes then a short pause, then 2 flashes, if more than one code is stored, the pause will be longer. The codes will display three times and end with 12. Write them down and post here.

May be a good idea to see if any codes are present in the pcm, also what does the transmission fluid look like? Is it clear and plink, if not change it and the filter.
