1994 Pontiac Grand Prix Hood release

This is my daughters car, and I'm just trying to help her out. First the inside hood release broke. Her temp has been running around 190' but heater doesn't always blow hot air. I't not low on coolant. Doesn't have any coolant in the oil, but I do suspect head gasket problems. I don't know much about Pontiacs any help would be appreciated.

Can you get the hood open? try from underneath the front if not. Temp sounds about right, might have a partially plugged heater core. Have it chemical tested for a blown head gasket to rule that out first, if ok have the cooling system flushed
