Should I purchase this car?

I called a man about a 1993 pontiac grand am automatic transmission. He said that when you take off it's very sluggish, but once you get going it is fine after that. He thinks the transmission fluid needs changing and that would fix the problem. Could that cause the take off to be sluggish or is there a bigger problem?

Unless you are getting it for next to nothing, and are prepared to spend some money, why buy a broken car. If it was something simple, he would fix it and get more money for the car.
My answer is there is something else wrong with the car.
