Shakes or Wobbles problem
2005 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Automatic 103112 miles

When I am moving it sounds like I have a low tire or a flat. That thud sound. We have had the tires checked and moved around. The brakes where just done. The boots were checked. Wondering if it could be transmission. Makes the same noise when not in gear and coasting. Press on brake to stop and hear what sounds like the transmission engaging. That is a new issue. Have over 100,000 miles on the car. Get checkups and service as book suggests.

Raise car, put on stands. Grasp tire and push/pull both horizontally and vertically, if any movement then possible wheel bearing, ball joint, tie rod, control arm bushing.

Check CV boots for any signs of leakage or cuts/rips in rubber boot.

If all is OK, check the trans fluid level, engine running in park. Inspect the fluid color and any unusual smell.
If OK, then check shifter connection to trans, look for binding cables or loose brackets.
