My car makes a squeal noise around 2000 rmps. The temp gage also seems to rise when I am going up hills. My belts seem to be in good condition. Any one I have talked to does not seem to see what the problem is. I did replace the alternator in May, my car starts fine, but could this be a problem.

Hello and thanks for donating

This is normally caused by a faulty belt tensioner. Try this, when the car is running have someone rev the engine until it starts squeeling. During that time, spray some WD40 on the belt to see if the noise goes away. If it doesn't go away then your tensioner pulley is most likely culprit. You say it is trying to overheat slightly sometimes so this also may be a symptom of the water pump failing, so have that looked over closely as well.
