How much do you think it should reasonably cost to replace brake pads and rotors.

I replaced the front brake pads and rotors on my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am for $100 because I bought the parts from Checker Auto Parts and did the job myself. But if you take it to an auto shop and let them do the repair they'll probably charge you $400 because they'll markup the price of the parts and of course will charge you for labor.

Yep. $400 is about right. That is why I learned how to do it myself. It isn't super hard, but it takes time, effort and a few tools. Some people don't want to deal with all that, so they just pay for it. Either way it will cost you something.
