2001 Pontiac Grand Am Turn siqnals

The turn signals work sometimes and sometimes they do not. Inside the dashboard somewhere by the radio there is a sound just like when I turn my signals on when they work. I checked the light bulbs and fuses. Any help will be very helpful. Thanks.
