2001 Pontiac Grand Am Automatic 87000 miles

I just got this car and I've notice that the gas tank meter isn't reading correctly. I can't tell if the car is actually going through gas too fast of it's just the meter. I can go from a full tank to 1/2 a tank in a day or two according to the meter. Do you have any ideas what this issue could be and how much it will cost to fix? Thank you!

Hi there,

It is an easy job for your mechanic to check this out, it will either be the sender in the tank, (usually) or the gauge. You will have to ring around to find prices for tank sender if this is the case, as I wont have prices applicable to where you live.
