2001 Pontiac Grand Am cold in winter

Hi I have a 01 grand am with a 156,000 km the problem is when I turn my heat on in the car I have to turn it to the high position to get any thing coming out now even at high it is slowing down whewn that happens I turn it down a notch and back up then it good for a bit there is lots of heat but I think I might not have any heat coming in the car soon and I live in canada and we ini mid winter lol I heard it might be the heater switch from low to high be nice if you could point me in the right direction thank you very much

This sounds like your heater/cooling fan motor is starting to fail. These motors have various speeds and when they begin to fail they act the way you describe. It may be the switch also, but I'm leaning towards the fan blower motor.  You can test the switch by unplugging the motor and testing for voltage at the motor connector. The switch sends voltage to the motor on different wires according to the speed selected, but the voltage is always 12 volts. Keep me posted
