Engine Performance problem
2001 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 78000 miles

I recently had the head gasket replaced. A few days later, I noticed a little hesitation when trying to go up a hill. When I started my car the next morning, the engine was very rough. Once the car is warmed up, the rough engine stops. However, the hesitation when going up a hill remains (but not every time).

When the hesitiation is there, my "Service Engine Soon" light will flash until I am no longer on the hill. I put some fuel injector cleaner in my tank a few days ago. My car ran much better, and the hesitation isn't as frequent. But it is still there. Does anyone have an idea?

Just a simple tune up will fix this. You probably just had the lower intake manifold gasket done(they go bad on all these engines) and when you did some coolant gets into cylinders and if they didnt change the plugs(we usually dont on this job) you either have a fouled spark plug or a bad wire. Very common after engine work like you had performed. Hope this helps
