Noises problem
2000 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Automatic

My cars idle is set at 9 which is good. But when I put it in drive and hit the gas. It has hi rev and low speed. How do I minimize this to make my car run smoother? It seems loud as well when I hit the gas! Almost like a stock car. Lol. Can someone help me figure this out pls?

Is the transmission slipping? When you say hi rpm's and low speed, that is what is sounds like. Also, could there be an exhaust problem that is making it loud? Check to see if it's cracked or rusted.
