2000 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 115473 miles

Last year my water housing went causing a antifreeze leak and the car to overheat. My husband pulled the car over waited for it to cool down added antifreeze to it and drove a few miles to find a phone to call a tow truck. Since then the car has Idled very rough. It drives fine till warmed up, as well as on the highway, but like when were stopped at a stop at a light or something it idles very hard to the point where the car is shaking but once we start driving again it settles down. When I took it get inspected last year it wouldn't pass because the engine light was coming on it doesn't stay on it kinda goes on and off. When the car was connected to the machine it was coming up reading multiple engine misfires. When they took the top of the engine it was full of oil. They checked the head gasket and that was fine. They cleaned everything up put in new spark plugs, boots and sleeves. Then they had me drive the car around trying to reset the computer which didn't work. Then they tried a new ignition coil, crank sensor. Also checked everything electrical in the car. We have had 3 mechanics look at this car and they are all kinda at a loss as what to do next.

First thing to do is to use an electronics cleaner and clean all the electrical connectors in engine compartment.

Oil or coolant can contaminate these connectors and cause false readings.
