My son's car has been having problems it will run fine for days then out of the blue it won't start but if you let it sit for 20 minutes to a half hour it will start right up. At first I was told it was the fuel pump so we replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and screen the other day the car did the same thing just once after all the repairs got done. I was told that 1999 grand ams have 2 fuel filters is this true and if so could this be the problem?

Other than the pump screen, only one inline filter in the parts book.

The next time that happens, you might try some basic tests. Have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. If you have spark everywhere, check fuel pressure. You could also check for codes. Some of the national brand autostores will check some codes for free.
