After having acceleration issues for months with my '97 Grand Am V6 with 127,000 miles. I took it to a trusted shop. Diagnosis is it needs a new fuel pump. PSI is at 36 and should be 50. An OEM pump is $737.00 installed and comes w/12,000 mile warranty. Also got a quote for an aftermarket pump from another trusted shop for $550.00 installed w/12 mo. Warranty. Question is: Should I spend the extra money on an OEM pump if I am hoping to keep this car for only another year, maximum. Both pumps are warrantied. If I install an aftermarket part, mightl it cause other problems in the car as I have heard it might.
Thanks

Before changing pump, change fuel filter and check the fuel pressure regulator.

OEM is best, but if they have the same warranty?

It's your money, but many shops use aftermarket pumps with good success. What problems are you speaking of with regard to aftermarket pumps.
If you do go aftermarket, get a direct fit, not universal.
