Engine Performance problem
1997 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 108000 miles

I just had the head gasket replaced by a mechanic after he replaced it, it started miss firing in 1 and 3. He could not fix the problem. I just had the compression checked and there is no compression in 4, but it is still miss firing in 1 and 3. When the spark plug was pulled out of 4 it was wet with gas.

Remove valve covers, plugs and rotate engine by hand with ratchet and socket on balancer bolt.

See if pushrods and rockers are moving, if not then broken pushrod or rocker.
If they are moving (all of them), have mechanic remove head and replace the head gasket.

I believe this engine uses different lenght pushrods (intake/exhaust) so he may have mixed up the pushrods when installing heads.
