When I start the car, at idle it dies, and also it smells strongly of gas. In the morning it starts up with no problem, but after driving it I have to put the peddle to the floor so it will start. I also have to rev it up a few times so it wont die on me, but it runs and idles fine after that. My engine light came on, so I took it to auto zone and the code said cylinder misfire detected-random cylinders. I dont think it could be the spark plugs, because we just changed those. I hope someone can help me because this problem is really getting to me. Thanks

Hello,

I belive your fuel pressure regulator might be faulty, when the internal diaphram cracks it leaks fuel into the intake manifold causing a "flooded" condition which is being overcome by the air your allowing into the motor when you press the throttle, thus allowing you to start the engine. You can pull off the vac. Line that runs from the regualtor to the manifold and see if fuel is present thru the line- this will determine if it is leaking. If the regulator checks out ok then reply to further diagnose.
