Heater problem
1995 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 113k miles

Driving home, the heat blew cold and the water temp rose to red, I turned on the defroster and the heat blew warm again and the water temp dropped. After about 5 to 10 minutes, the defroster went cold and the temp rose, I turned it on the heater and temps dropped as the heater blew hot air. This cycled back and forth for about 30 minutes of city driving. Then it was fine - drove another 30 minutes with no problems.

Think it may be time for a radiator/heater core flush and a new thermostat.
