I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am with the Quad 4 motor. The car recently had the water pump go out on it and of course the coolant got into the oil and created quite the mess. The water pump, head gasket, ect. Has been replaced. The motor is now making a ruckus that appears to be coming from the valve train and some of the lifters appeared to be plugged up. It was suggested to me by a mechanic that the oil passages could still be plugged up and there wasn't any oil getting up to the valves. Is there anything I can put into the crankcase like GUNK to unplug the passages or do I have to take it all apart?

Thanks

You should be able to do an engine flush.

Do you think a couple of cans of GUNK would work or is there something a bit stronger that I can use? My husband and I just had the upper half apart and discovered that some of the lifters were gummed up with stuff too. It's an evil quad 4 motor. I'll take my 2.6 any day.

I dont know if gunk makes an egnige flush or not but if they do follow the directions on the container, and you may have to do it a couple of times.
