1994 Pontiac Grand Am overflow and steam

I had just bought this car and granted I knew there were some problems but I was looking under the hood and what I think is coolant (green fluid) I could be wrong but it is leaking out and steaming what is this and how do I fix it? Should I be worried

Not a good sign, but check compression to rule out head gasket, then a cooling system pressure test to isolate leak (unless head gasket is bad, then DO NOT do a cooling system test).
