Engine Cooling problem
1994 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My son owns a 94 Grand Am. When at a stop, the temperature gauge rises and then falls while driving. This is the only issue. No stalling, not blowing smoke, no check engine light, etc. Someone said it is the Intake Gasket(s). Someone else said radiator. What do you think?

Hello, my first thought is to see if the radiator fan is kicking on? You might also check for codes.

Hello, thanks for the prompt response. The radiator fan is kicking on. Is it possible that it could be the intake gasket? I understand that is a very spendy repair.

Are you losing coolant? How high does the temp gage move? I don't pay attention to a little gage movement. If the engine is overheating and your losing coolant, then you need to check it out.
