1992 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i replaced the engine in car and it operates fine but when I put it in gear either drive or reverse it stalls.

Check and adjust tranny fluid
check for engine codes
check and clean idle air control valve
check for any vacuum leaks
