How do you remove the headlight assembly to replace the headlight bulbs

Yes you have to remove the entire headlamp to access the bulbs.
Here's how
Remove the bolts from the headlamp assembly.
Remove the push-in-retainers across the front fascia.
Pull the headlamp forward to release the locating tab from the front of the fender, then lift the headlamp up to release from vehicle.
