2002 Pontiac Firebird Not Starting

My car will not start. The battery is not dead, and i do have full electrical power to the car. All lights, radio, horn, etc. are working. The security light on the instrument panel is flashing, and I believe it has locked me out of the starter for some reason. I read the owner's manual and tried using my spare key, as it recommended, but still nothing.

My 2002 Firebird is doing this same thing. It started Saturday morning. I called the dealership this morning and they said that the only thing to try on my own is to turn the car on (even though it won't start) and leave it that way for 15 minutes then come back turn it off and back on. They said this might reset the security system, but if it doesn't that I will have to have it towed in to be checked out.

as I suspected as I do own an 89 and 02 firebird with the VATS and PASSKEY II system. It is the ignition key cylinder. the wires that connect when you use the key with the small transitmitter was broken. So according to the security system it wasnt registering a key at all.

Mine did this and it as well only has 58000 miles on it turn the key back to acc for 5 minutes, press the gas pedal a few times, then turn it back and forth after that a few times and it will crank right on up. The problem could have been caused by dirt on your key something little so try wiping your key off on your pants before cranking it again.. Don't go through with letting GM touch your car this is exactly what they are going to do but for 300 dollars!!!!
