Engine Performance problem
1992 Pontiac Firebird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

1992 Fire bird 3.1. Engine started lossing power under load. Problem kept getting worse untill no power. Car then needed to be towed. Engine then would only run at idel and would stall when reeved.
Now engine only wants to start when full throtle but wont run or idle. Is this a fuel pump / filter problem.
Or is this a sensor problem. Note no engine light at this time. Thanks Jim

Hi Jim, I would check the the catiliac converter first. My wifes firebird did the same thing. Would start by loosing power then, hard to keep running. Tap the coverter when cold with your hand see if you hear any rattling inside of it. When running check to smell the exaust, if a rotten smell then it is the converter
