I have a '92 firebird and just had the starter replaced. The reason I had the starter replaced was because I would occasionally go out to start my car and and it would not crank. My was different though, the battery wasnt dead my radio would play but the engine wouldnt turn over at ALL or do anything for that matter. We replaced the starrter thinking it was that or the solinoid. Now my car is idling extremely low in park and moreso in drive. In park it idles under 1, and in drive sitting at a stop light or stop sign or whatever it idles at 500 rpms or a little lower and it is very unstable.

It will occasionally shut off on me when I come to a stop like that because it idled so low. When it cuts off like that when I go to re-crank it it turns over but wont crank like its not getting gas.

help?

Clean out the idle air control valve and test the throttle position sensor and manifold absolute pressure sensors.

So I did as you guys said I replaced the idle air control, the throttle position sensor and the absolute manifold sensors, they all needed to be changed as I could tell when I did it. I went to work today though and my engine was idling as low as it was (roughly 500rpms) but it was extremely stable and drove ok, atleast until I got to stops. I stopped at a redlight, It was idling ok then just up and died. Then I came to a stop at another like idled ok then I went to accelerate and it died agian. Also I dont know if this might have anything to do with it but sometimes it will give me fits and not crank after its been cut off. It wont crank for about 30minutes and the engine doesnt turn over or anything but, the lights radio all that works so its not the battery.

If you need to know anymore specifics to help ill be more than willing to say.

Thanks so much guys
