My driver's side door lock assy does not grab the door lock striker pin. The 'claw' does not grab the pin, so the door will not stay shut. Is that jaw held with a spring or detent. Can it be fixed, or should I just replace it. I have power locks on the door. The original part number is 16608173. Newgmparts.com sells it for $92.00.

Thanks for your help.

Check to see if the door latch has become engaged. Look at the latch, use a ink pen and insert the pen were the latch is, then open the handle, try to pull the latch open again. If the latch is open but wont close the latch has failed and needs to be replaced. Please let me know.

Thanks, Ken, for the prompt response. The lock does need to be replaced. I have since removed the lock and will order a new one.
