99 Bonneville engine light

My wifes 1999 Pontiac Bonneville has the engine trouble light that stays on. It started 3 days ago. It is not the battery, alternator or any of the fluids, Any suggestions as far as what it could be and what to check. It is a 99 Bonneville automatic 6 cylinders, 106300 miles.

First off you need to take the car to a parts store like auto zone or something and have them scan the car for codes and then once we know what the code is we can try and giude you from there.
