2003 Pontiac Bonneville 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 116K miles

Is a alternator replacement something that can be done relatively easily by a mechanically inclined person or is it something that should be done by a shop? If so what is the basice procedure, especially the drive belt replacement with proper tension.

GENERATOR
Removal & Installation
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove drive belt. Remove fuel injection sight shield. Remove bolts securing generator brace. Remove generator brace. Disconnect generator harness connector. Reposition protective boot from generator output BAT terminal for access. Remove positive battery cable to generator BAT terminal nut. Disconnect battery positive lead from generator. Remove 3 mounting bolts. Remove generator. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification.

BELT TENSION
NOTE:Drive belt tension is controlled by a belt tensioner. No adjustment is required.
