I have a 95 Bonneville and when I start it she runs great. For a few seconds then abbrubly dies. It is throwing codes but because this is the crossover year I dont have the adapter cable to read them(OBD1 plug OBD2 codes). The idle air control valve was making a bunch of noice when I cycled the key so I replaced it and still the same problem. If I hold the RPM's up it will stay running. Is this a TPS problem?

My databases are not always correct, but, it shows a 16 pin data link connector and says, obd2. Maybe you need to take the throttle-body off and clean it, if you haven't already. How long since over-all tune-up?

Unsure on the last tune up as I recently aquired the vehicle. I dont think it needs plugs or a coil though because when it runs it runs well. When I tested the TPS the ohms went down as I turned it up. Arent they supposed to go up?

I can't tell about your testing? Wire colors at the tps, dark blue wire is signal, gray wire is ref voltage around 5 volts with the key on. Black wire is ground. With a digital multimeter ground one lead, backprobe the dark blue wire with the other lead. Turn the key to on, no need to go further. Watch the voltage, as you open the throttle, the voltage reading goes up.
