I have a 94 bonneville that leaks oil only when its running. It seems when the engine starts to get hot the oil pressure starts do drop. It doesn't leak much, but it goes below 40. And, for the first time last night it started making a ticking noise when driving and the oil pressure went in the red. The engine light is also on. Could this be the oil pump?

I have the same make/model/year and the same miles. Same Problem and well all I can say is that we replaced the oil pump, sending unit, bypass switch, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket. Timing chain broke so we did that as well. My gauge reads fine untill the car warms up then it dips into the red and constantly beeps at me. Yes my oil pump was bad and so was the sending unit. The bypass switch was stuck in the open possistion and that was a problem cause the oil was just dumping right to the pan. Still after all that back to square one. The ticking noise went away for me after we replaced all those parts. Nedless to say the car runs like a champ and barely leaks anything now. Yes after all that she still leaks but compared to before I can't complain. ONE DROP. Hope that helps and if you figure out yours let me know please. I am gonna keep looking for my answer.
