I get a Code 1404 (Manufactor auxilary emissions contro)l. Can you tell me what to check to correct this problem?

The code that you have is for the egr valve. It is probably best to take it to a dealer to have checked out. It needs the scan tool to monitor the operation of the valve as it could the egr, pcm or wiring.
