This is a Grand Voyager SE that just had the brakes checked about three weeks ago. The technician said the pads still had quite a bit of wear left. I noticed the chirping/squeaking sound which was intermittent approximately 1000 miles ago, but it seems to be getting more constant and worse. The sound stops when I apply the brakes. I am due for another road trip, but hesitant to leave without getting this checked out. What do you think might be the probllem?

Sounds like a classic case of worn pads. There's a metal projection on the outboard pad designed to rub against the rotor to make the chirp when the pads are worn to the point they need replacement. It's possible this wear indicator is bent too far toward the rotor. I'd also make sure the mechanic carefully checked all the pads, both sides, inboard and outboard. Often they wear unevenly. One wheel will look fine and the other is worn out, or the inboard pad has plenty of material left while the outboard pad is down to the metal, or vice versa. If the latter is the case, you might make sure the caliper isn't sticking. It may need replacement too.
