My car periodically won't start. It catches but immediately dies. It has happened to me three times already. When I tow it to the mechanic the next day, it starts with no problem. I have had the fuel pump replaced and the mechanic took apart the dash to see if it was a short but it still did it again. What could the problem be.

Has the mechanic checked the crank sensor for damage?

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.

I believe he did check it. Before I had the fuel pump changed, he mentioned it could be the fuel pump or the crank sensor. The problem is that the next day, the car starts and works fine so they can't really diagnose what it is.

Hi:
I'm glad to help ya. If I can. It can be hard to pinpoint things via the internet. Regardless, is it running now? If not, check to see if it's getting spark. If it is running, when it happens again check for spark. If it starts, see if the spark dies with the engine.

If you need instructions, let me know.

Joe
