It would be better changing belt and tensioner at the same time, saves stripping it all down and doing it again later. Especially if the belt is due for a change?

Caravan & Voyager
Raise vehicle. Remove accessory drive belt splash shield. Remove accessory drive belts. Remove crankshaft pulleys and vibration damper.
Lower vehicle. Support engine weight with floor jack. Remove purge duty solenoid and wiring harness from right engine mount bracket.
Remove 2 right engine mount insulator vertical bolts Remove the one horizontal fastener. DO NOT remove large nut from center bolt of insulator rubber. Remove horizontal and vertical fasteners from engine side of mount. Remove engine mount.
Remove engine support bracket from front of engine. Remove timing belt covers, noting bolt length for installation reference. Note direction of flange installation on front of crankshaft, in front of crankshaft sprocket. Remove flange.
Rotate crankshaft, and align timing marks on camshaft sprockets and crankshaft sprocket. See Fig. 1. If reusing timing belt, mark direction of timing belt rotation for installation reference.
Loosen timing belt tensioner bolt. Move timing belt tensioner away from timing belt, and temporarily tighten bolt. Remove timing belt.

Caravan & Voyager
If timing belt tensioner spring was removed, install spring on tensioner arm with end of hook facing out (away from engine).
Ensure all timing marks are aligned. See Fig. 1. Install timing belt on crankshaft sprocket while holding timing belt tight on tension side. See Fig. 1. If reusing timing belt, ensure timing belt is installed in original direction of rotation.
Install timing belt on front (radiator side) camshaft sprocket, water pump pulley, rear camshaft sprocket and then on timing belt tensioner. Ensure timing belt is installed in this order and there is no slack in belt.
Install flange on front of crankshaft sprocket with flat side against timing belt and offset side toward front of crankshaft. Loosen timing belt tensioner bolt, allowing spring tension to be applied on timing belt tensioner and timing belt.
Slowly rotate crankshaft clockwise 2 full revolutions. DO NOT rotate crankshaft counterclockwise. Realign all timing marks. Tighten timing belt tensioner bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
Install timing belt covers. Ensure bolts are installed in original locations. See Fig. 4. Install engine support bracket. Install right side engine mount. Install crankshaft vibration damper.
To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Adjust drive belts to proper tension.
NOTE:Engine support bracket reamer bolt must be tightened slowly while spraying lubricant on bolt.
