Driving along, my engine goes dead. Dashboard lights out and no stereo. Headlights, horn, and blinkers still work. Guessing that all with constant power still good while that which gets power through the ignition is dead. First guess is ignition switch but was advised to start with starter relay. Should I? If so, where is it? Thanks.

The starter relay is on the drivers side inner fender at the top edge, second one from the rear I think. Is your check engine light on? If yes turn the key from off to on three times, on the fourth one leave it in the on position, count the flasshes.22 would flash as 2 blinks, then a short puase, then 2 more blinks. If several codes are stored, the pause is longer between codes, code 55 will be the last code. Do this and post all codes found.

Can't get codes because dash is blacked out. Replaced ignition switch and no change.
