1988 Plymouth Reliant will not start

wondering why this car will not start it turns over but not starting checked the fuel system seems ok. How do i check to see if the engine is firing!!!

If it fires and runs a few seconds with starting fluid (follow directions on can) then it is getting spark and there is a problem with the fuel system. If it doesn't even try to start, pull a plug, connect the plug wire to it, ground the plug against the engine block or other ground, and crank the engine to see if you are getting spark at the end of the plug.
