Hi I have a 2001 plymouth neon around 147000 mi and im alwats putting in oil, like every other day the light comes on. And its a bad smell like burning oil when I drive. I took it to a shop and they said its a 700-800 dollar job. I dont really have the means to pay for it right now, would a simple oil leak sealent work?

Hi there, oil stop leaks work by swelling the seals, not just the leaky one but all seals in the engine, and with this they can fail after a while as they are soft and can damage easily, not all oil leaks are seals so this will have no affect on non seal leaks, this can cause longer term damage, don't use stop leaks they are not the answer to your problem.
