Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Plymouth Neon 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1997 neon with a 2.0 ohc engine. It threw the timing belt and I need to know if this engine is an interference motor. If there is a good possibility that it has a bent valve, then I am not even going to bother fixing it. Thank you for any info.

The 2.0 Liter SOHC and DOHC engines used in the Neon are interference engines. If the timing belt broke while driving there is about a 6 in 10 chance a valve came in contact with the piston. The only way to know for sure is to replace the belt and perform a compression check to see if any valves are not sealing.
