How many quarts does the automatic transmission in a 1997 plymouth breeze take and also I have a leak coming from somewhere near the rear main gasket in the trans whut could that possible be?

If you only drained the pan and replaced the filter, you only removed about 4 quarts. As far as the trans leak where it connects to the engine, there is a front seal on the trans that can leak.
